New Changes: Winter, 2008

Published by justin1390 at 11:57 pm under General Edit This

As winter approaches, it’s time to do it.  A few changes will take place around NWhiking in prep for the coming winter and fall.  Most of the changes will be minor, affecting only the primary focus of the hiking blog; however, a few will be more noticeable for the readers.  The changes will be effective as of October 1st, 2008, and will remain in effect through March 1st, 2009.  Here they are:

  • A new category will be added:  Winter Walks.  This will feature walks that are pleasant for winter and may include snowshoeing spots and sledding areas.
  • Day hikes and extended hikes will take a temporary pause until warmer weather once again returns.
  • Gear reviews, first-aid, and survival guide categories will take precedence in preparation for next year and a new hiking season.
  • Winter photos will be added as available and tips in the general category will be more cold weather oriented.

These changes are meant to encourage a friendly interface that the public can use even in the winter time.  Switching from mainly summer to winter activities is a change, but not a terribly large one. I believe that the readers will appreciate the change until winter has passed and allows NWhiking to resume its normal summer activities.  Happy hiking!
